Jon & I are taking our first vacation together since Nov 2006 at the moment. I’d say we’re enjoying ourselves, except we didn’t quite leave all the cold behind and I ended up having the worst migraine of my life starting on Monday and still with a remnant of one today…
We’re visiting my parents in Ocala, Florida and had plans to drive up to Pensacola (plans derailed by my stupid migraine). So far, we’ve taken over their entertainment room by reconfiguring their projector and screen to accomodate the Wii. It’s been quite amusing watching Jon and my mother box and golf and play tennis. I decided to include some pics to show you just how serious they are, if only I could include audio as well. The laughter and yelling add to the experience.
Jon decided that his weapon was not his great swing or his uppercut, but making my mother laugh harder. that’s all it really took for her to lose. though in her defense, she kicked his butt a few times.

ok, I know I live in northern Indiana, and I should be used to the snow, having spent 9 years in Maryland and 3 in northern Japan, but I’m pretty sure snow days were more fun and way cooler as a kid than as an adult. First of all, I don’t enjoy being cold. I can only layer so much before I’m uncomfortable. not to mention how my driving abilities in the snow are not so amazing (haven’t had a slide-off yet this season).
But here we are housebound on New Years because 10 inches of snow dumped itself around us since 6 pm last night, and we’re only getting more today and tonight. I have 3 consulations to snow days though.
- I get to wear comfies all day. Oh how I love warm pajamas!
- I actually take time to make homecooked meals. Today, we had shepherd’s pie. Comfort food is great on snow days.
- torturing the Berkeley. We bundle him up in his dog gear and laugh at him as he makes his way outside trudging through snow taller than he is. It’s always a great time watching him try to find the exact right spot to do his business. and with that, here are some Berkeley pics from this afternoon.
